Atalanta have announced the appointment of Ivan Juric as their new head coach, after agreeing a contract until June 2027 to succeed his senior coach and mentor Gian Piero Gasperini, who agreed to join Roma.
Juric has signed for Atalanta after previously negotiating with a number of coaches, including Stefano Pioli, Thiago Motta and Raffaele Palladino. Atalanta managed
Gasperini for nine seasons and it was a wise choice to choose a coach who had learned from him, and there was no better man to do so.
The former player under Gasperini at Crotone and Genoa, before serving as his assistant at Inter Milan and Palermo,

La Dea had worked with Gasperini for the last nine seasons, so it was wise to pick one of the many current Serie A bosses who learned from the master and consider him a mentor.
Nobody fits that bill better than Juric, who was his player at Crotone and Genoa, then acted as Gasperini’s assistant manager at Inter and Palermo.
He has had a tumultuous career in management for the 2024-25 season, starting with just 12 games with Roma before being sacked on November 10, then taking over at Southampton on December 23 and managing only 16 games before the team was eventually relegated from the Premier League.
