Ange Postecoglou has spoken out for the first time since being sacked by Tottenham Hotspur. Saying he is proud to be the head coach of the Golden Spurs and believes in the team’s potential to not have to wait for another 17 years for a championship.

Spurs decided to sack Postecoglou from his position as head coach even though. He had just led the team to win the UEFA Europa League by defeating Manchester United 1-0 in the final in Bilbao. The club’s first championship in 17 years.

However, Spurs’ performance in the Premier League this season was considered terrible. Finishing 17th in the table, and escaping relegation by only one place. Which was the main factor that led the board of directors to decide to make the change.

After the news of the dismissal was announced, Postecoglou released a statement through his representative, stating that

“When I look back on my time as Tottenham Hotspur manager, the clearest feeling is pride. The opportunity to come and lead a football club with history in England and bring it back to glory was an experience. That will stay with me for the rest of my life,” said Postecoglou.

“That night in Bilbao was the culmination of two years of dedication. Belief And overcoming the critics who said we could never do it,” he

said. “We have laid the foundations so that the club doesn’t have to wait another 17 years for the next success. I have huge faith in this group of players and know that there is still a lot of potential for improvement.”

He also thanked the fans and colleagues for their support over the past two years. And said he will never forget his connection to the club.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has now been reported as the favourite to take over as Spurs’ new manager.
