Liverpool have moved a step closer to completing the signing of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen after the player was given the green light to leave.

Wirtz has made it clear that he wants to join Liverpool, leaving rivals Bayern Munich and Manchester City disappointed.

Liverpool have tried to negotiate a fee with Leverkusen, with initial offers rejected, but talks are continuing.

It has been previously reported that a number of Liverpool players could be included in the deal, with Leverkusen interested in Harvey Elliott and Jarrell Quansah.

He would become Liverpool’s second new signing of the summer transfer window, following the arrival of Jeremie Frimpong.
